History of the Waggon and Horses

The Waggon and Horses was originally
built as a farmhouse in 1663.
It opened as a tavern and coach
house in 1789 and was named
The Sandmill Inn.

The photograph opposite was taken
circa 1890 and shows an early morning delivery.

A popular local in the late 60's.

In 1978 the third floor was removed
to look as it is today.

To date kept as a traditional pub
with a fine restaurant.
As it is today....
